Accident or Abuse? How to Differentiate

ANIMAL ABUSE REPORTING, PART I: IDENTIFYING REPORTABLE CASES See All Episodes »

Animal cruelty: It’s something no veterinarian wants to see but inevitably will at some point. Sometimes it’s easy to tell when an animal is being abused or neglected; other times, it’s not so clear cut. That’s why it’s so important to learn how to recognize an abused animal and how to handle such a case before it shows up at your clinic.

In this episode, Mia and Krysten sit down with Dr. Allison Lash, medical director at the Cleveland Animal Protective League and member of the OVMA Animal Abuse Recognition & Reporting Task Force. She shares red flags veterinarians should be on the lookout for, discusses their ethical and legal responsibilities to report, and explains why veterinarians are a crucial component in not only protecting animals but people as well.
